The Torrance County 50+ Games invites residents who will be 50 or older by December 31, 2014, to enter the Games. There will be 20 different sports. To be eligible for the New Mexico State Senior Olympic Games in Roswell in July, local participation in the Torrance County 50+ Games is required. The games will start on February 15 and run through May 25.
The entry fee is $5 per person for one sport and $8 for two to three sports or $10 for four or more sports. Entry forms are available at the senior centers in Estancia, Moriarty and Mountainair. Registration deadline is five (5) days prior to the event.

Here’s a sample of what games you can expect: The kick-off will be February 15th at the Estancia School’s auxiliary gym. Huachas at 9 a.m., Soccer and Frisbee accuracy at 1 p.m. and Basketball skills at 2 p.m.
The games will continue on February 22 with shuffleboard at 1 p.m. at the Mountainair Senior Center.
February 23 there will be shuffleboard doubles at 10 a.m. at the Mountainair Senior Center.
March 8 there will be air gun events at 9 a.m. at Mag’s Indoor Shooting Range in Moriarty.
March 10 there will be pickleball singles, doubles and mixed doubles at 9 a.m. at the Dr. Saul Community Center in Mountainair.
Come on out to the Salt Missions Trail Scenic Byway communities this weekend and find something to do for just about everyone!
In Estancia, the Torrance County Fair will be wrapping up a week-long set of activities with a parade, the Junior Livestock Show, and the Torrance County 4-H barbecue at the Fairgrounds. In Edgewood, the Route 66 Run, Rally, Rock Celebration will kick off with a 10 a.m. Parade and end with fireworks in the evening. The Fourth of July parade in Moriarty starts at 9 a.m. and is followed by an Arts and Crafts Fair (with food) in the City Park. If you can’t come on the Fourth, join the fun on Saturday and Sunday (July 6 and 7th) for the Wiseman Circuit Bull Riding events at the Moriarty arena. In Estancia, the annual Fourth of July Fishing Derby at Arthur Park will begin at 7 a.m. for fishers 65 and older and at 7:30 a.m. for the kids. There will be prizes for everything from the largest fish to the smallest. Stop on by and have some fun! The swimming pool opens on the Fourth, as well, so you can cool off even more, if you bring your swim suit!
In Mountainair, the Fourth of July Jubilee is scheduled for Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Chavez Memorial Park.
