Egg Stuffers Needed:  

Who: Volunteers needed, as well as donations of small candy and plastic Easter eggs

What: Edgewood Police Department’s fourth annual Easter Egg Hunt. The event is free, and includes free hot dogs, jumpers for the kids and more.

When: Volunteers will meet on March 21 at the Edgewood Community Center at 11 a.m.  The event will be on April 4 at Edgewood Elementary School from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

What: A fundraiser will be held for Kannon Garley.  Kannon suffered a dog bite to the face in December, necessitating multiple surgeries.

When: March 14 at El Comedor restaurant in Moriarty at 5 p.m.  A spaghetti dinner, hosted by Jerry and Elma Pack, will be offered, with all proceeds going to the family.

Art and Music Festival Preview:

What: free event hosted by Wildlife West to preview the 13th annual Art and Music Festival. The preview will feature free live music, barbecue, marketing and promotional opportunities, and beer tasting by Sierra Blanca Brewery. Free advance tickets are required for admission and are available for businesses, organizers or promoters only.

When: The preview event will be March 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Jo White Theater (aka Bean Barn). The Festival will be this summer, July 24-26.

Winter activities meetings:sandia mountains

Talking Talons Youth Leadership and the “More Kids in the Winter Woods” collaboration are inviting the public to give input on how to improve winter recreating in the Sandia Mountains. Various activities were tried out this winter and meetings will be held to analyze which ones worked best to get people of all ages outside, experiencing the Sandias.

  • Capulin Snow Play Area meeting: March 12, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Tijeras library
  • Winter trail options meeting: March 18, 4-5:30 p.m. at the Tijeras Library
  • Winter education opportunities meeting: March 23, 1-2:30 p.m. at the Tijeras library
