Feathers and Yucca Become a—–Blanket!?!

Have you ever seen a turkey feather blanket? These wonderful Native American blankets were made of soft, downy feathers woven together with cordage made yucca leaves. Come to the Tijeras Pueblo Interpretive Center at Sandia Ranger Station just south of Tijeras on Saturday, July 13 to watch Mary Weahkee, of the Santa Clara Pueblo and Comanche Nation, demonstrate how to make a turkey feather blanket. The presentation starts at 10 a.m. and is sponsored by the Friends of Tijeras Pueblo. A $5 donation is requested from non-members of the Friends.
