A MUDDY, BOOKY KIND OF DAY!

Whether you’re into books or mud bogging (or maybe a little of both!) Saturday, May 18 will be a great day to have fun on the Salt Missions Trail Scenic Byway!

Stop by the Estancia Public Library’s Spring Carnival from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. for games, books, and golf carts. Tickets are 6 for $1 and all proceeds will go to the 2013 Summer Reading Program “Just Dig It!”

Or if you just have to get muddy, head on over to the Mountainair Marauder Mud Bog with New Mexico’s only hill-n-hole racing event, standard mud pit, rum barrel run, or maurauder challenge. Gates open at 8 a.m. and the battles start at 11 a.m. For entry fees, spectator admissions, and directions go to http://www.blackbartsadventures.com or call 505-847-2975 or 350-7765.

Meet Local Authors at Annual Event in Moriarty

Talk to local authors, buy their books (and get them autographed!), participate in a scavenger hunt, and more at the Seventh Annual Authors for Literacy event in Moriarty on Saturday, April 20. Dozens of local authors will be there to talk about and sell their books.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Moriarty Civic Center. Entrance is free. Authors will donate a percentage of their sales to benefit the Read “Write” Adult Literacy Program, which provides free tutoring in basic literacy and English as a second language.
