One lucky winner will win a $1000+ prize package at Edgewood’s inaugural annual “Hunt-n-Glow” on Saturday, December 15, 2012. Pick up your entry forms and treasure maps after 10 a.m. at the chamber booth located at the Edgewood Elementary School at Dinkle and State Road 344 in Edgewood. The grand prize will also be available for viewing at the booth.
Scavenger hunters will find clues by locating the “X” at each participating location at the school, and then will continue to locations on the map provided them.
“Hunters” will find clues and enjoy refreshments while enjoying Edgewood’s stores and restaurants. Completed entries must be submitted at the chamber booth by 4 pm, and the winner will be chosen. A single winner will get the grand prize made up of gifts from all of the participating stores, worth over $1000.
More than 2 dozen businesses in Edgewood and the East Mountain area, ranging from local artists and home based businesses to large stores like Walmart and Tractor Supply, are participating. Located just 20 minutes east of Albuquerque and 40 minutes south of Santa Fe, NM, small town Edgewood is becoming the retail center of the East Mountains and a destination for regional day trippers.
A light parade begins at 5 pm, with lit displays and balloons marching from the Walmart on State Road 344 North to the Soccer field. The light parade will include the Moriarty High School Marching Band, and Santa in a Hot Air Balloon Basket.
The Moriarty High School “Messengers” Choir is performing a holiday sing-a-long at theBalloon Glow at the Soccer field right after the parade, along with Santa in his chair welcoming the kids. Hot chocolate and other goodies will be sold by the Edgewood Food Pantry and the Edgewood Police Department to raise funds for the Edgewood Food Pantry.
This is the 1st year for this event. “Edgewood wanted an annual tradition to take place around the holidays, and, with the business, artists, and balloonists in the area we are building a free event for families and tourists to come by and spend the day in Edgewood.
We are coming together as a whole community to celebrate the holiday season and put Edgewood “on YOUR map” as a town that welcomes everybody to join us.” says Madeline Heitzman, the Executive Director of The Edgewood Chamber of Commerce who is working with the Town of Edgewood to build this event.
