Lecture Season Begins at Friends of Tijeras Pueblo

During this past summer, an army of local high school students had the opportunity to participate in the Salinas Pueblo Missions’ re-bury project of Mound 7 Pueblo at the Gran Quivira unit. The purpose of the reburial is to protect the site for future generations.

On Tuesday, October 9, Gavin Gardner, the Integrated Resources Specialist for the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument will provide a presentation about the excavation and reburial of Mound 7.  The presentation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Sandia Ranger Station just south of the Village of Tijeras on NM337.

This event is courtesy of The Friends of Tijeras Pueblo and the Sandia Range Station and is the first of a series scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month throughout the Fall. For more information about the Friends and their activities, go to www.friendsoftijeraspueblo.org.
