The Dirty Dash Comes to the Salt Missions Trail

If you’ve heard about the Dirty Dash and thought it would be fun, now’s your chance. If you haven’t heard about the Dirty Dash, you’re in for a treat. Either way, September 8 at Wildlife West is your opportunity to have fun and get some exercise in the mud for a good cause.

Already a fixture in Washington, Utah, Oregon, and Colorado, the Dirty Dash is heading south to New Mexico, specifically Edgewood.  Its a 3.5 mile mud run obstacle course designed to get your heart rate up and give you a good time while doing it. This is a charity event benefiting the New Mexico Xtreme Sports Associaiton, which provides athletic and creative opportunities for youth. The Torrance County Fair in Estancia goes out with a bang this weekend, with the parade starting at 11 a.m. followed by a barbecue lunch at the Fairgrounds. At 2 p.m. the junior livestock sale starts in the livestock barn. To top off the week, a country western dance will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Estancia Community Center, with admission only $5 a person. Come on out and join the fun!


Edgewood’s birthday celebration is set for this coming Saturday, August 11, with activities throughout town.

The day wil start with a fun run through Wildlife West Nature Park and continue at 10 a.m. with a parade that will begin at Route 66 Campground. The parage theme is Kicking the Can Down Route 66. After the parade, children of all ages are invited to the Kids Fun Zone on Plaza Loop across from Pizza Barn. Activities will include karaoke by TRYed by Fire Productions, a petting zoo, and a dunk tank.

Rich Ford will be hosting a business fair with participating by businesses and nonprofits until 5 p.m., when the booths will come down and the dancing and midway carnival games will start.

Other activities include a motorcycle poker run starting at Katrinah’s East Mountain Grill at 12:30 p.m, car shows, and a fireworks show.
