I’m reposting the following, since it didn’t get much “play” last week at the top of the list.
For a healthy alternative to the standard day trip full of junk food, consider visiting the Farmers Markets along the Salt Missions Trail Scenic Byway. Wildlife West in Edgewood (87 North Frontage Road) hosts a Farmers Market on Thursdays from 3 to 6:30 p.m. , while Mountainair’s Farmers Market (next to the post office) is active every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until sellout. If you can’t make it on one of those days, beginning in early August consider stopping at Schwebach Farms’ market stand in Moriarty, which will be open Tuesdays through Sundays. Call (505) 832-6171 for hours.
Both the Wildlife West and the Mountainair Market are now accepting WIC and Senior checks. Contact Rebecca Lueras at 505-847-0973 or visit their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/#!/MountainairFarmGardenMarket for information about the Mountainair market and Craig Noorlander, (505) 281-7851 or email@example.com for information about the Wildlife West market.
